First Ultrasound

At the Wakefield Hospital, they play that song I'm so crazy about now at the reception area where I report myself for an obstetric ultrasound. Turned to Daddy and said, "that's my song!" and he rolled his eyes. Felt quite optimistic for a while.

Then with such full, full bladder (they told me to drink 1 litre of water an hour prior) the nice lady behind the screen started briefing us of what to expect at 5-6 weeks pregnancy and the possibility of not being able to see anything yet but a sac. All Mommy can say is, "yeah, and I really, really need to pee". She let out a polite laugh and squeezed out that awfully cold gel on my lower belly. Andd.. gave a light press on my belly! Gosh I swear I could burst at that time. She looked at my full bladder and then for a good hour (5 minutes actually but it felt like an hour!! And Daddy had the opportunity to watch everything on the screen, for a second there I wish I'm at his place!) started saying something like, we might need you to empty your bladder a little bit before continuing. They couldn't see anything but hopefully after I've let out some urine, the uterus might come up a bit and they'll be able to see something. So I let out a little and it wasn't enough so she sent me back to the bathroom again where I thought I'd almost emptied it. Still, on the third try we're not able to see much but a dot. Daddy said he saw her measuring and jotting down somewhere about 0.09inches, but don't bet on it. The sonographer said she's not comfortable with what she sees but she'll pop down to the doc and ask his opinion while we sit quietly in the room waiting for her. When she returned, the doc said he's positive but not able to fully confirm the date. You've passed 5 weeks but hasn't reached 6 weeks yet. They said to return in 2 weeks if we want a more precise date. It depends on our GP but Mommy thinks she would like to return and will mention that to Dr Meredith on our next appointment. Your uterus seems to be accepting the pregnancy very well. =)=)

So that's how the very first ultrasound went. I've backache last night and letting out lots of gas (farts) a lot recently. Since you might not be 6+ weeks yet, Mommy thinks she'll change the pregnancy ticker when she knows and confirms how far along you are. No wonder I've no morning sickness or very sore breasts yet. Symptoms are just not showing yet, perhaps. Just a little uncomfortable, sometimes. So hurry up little one, show your little self (Daddy gets annoyed when Mommy says this, he said, you just wait til he/she gets bigger!). =p

This is definitely a new experience to have a full bladder before the ultrasound and relieving it bit by bit. I have never had to experience that before. It must be a challenge to resist the urge to pee.

Patience... Soon you will see and hear the heartbeat of the little one.

Selamat Menyambut Ramadhan to you and Mr K. Boleh puasa tak?

Thanks Along Nie, happy ramadhan to you and your family! I suppose boleh kot. I've no morning sickness or anything yet to stop me from puasa.

Oh yea? Maybe coz the baby's too small kot. The sonographer said perhaps still at a cellular level. They reminded me twice before to drink 1 litre of water an hour prior, then when she scanned, it was too full pulak. hehe. If they still can't see anything by the second scan, they'll do a transvaginal scan. Now anything that goes "in there", is scary to me. Hope we'll be able to see by the second one!
