Ok now that Mommy has undergone her second ultrasound and done with her dating scan, she has decided to change her due date on this blog by 6 days behind. This is only when the sonographer said you're 3.5cm/1.37inches and after reading few articles and reviews, that size is still among week 10-ish. So instead of following the LMP date, I've decided to follow the date given by the sonographer. April 25th, 2009. Not that it's much of a difference also considering the fact that these dates are just a general idea when to expect your arrival. Chances of you being born on the 19th or 25th, not so great. So we'll just say you're arriving somewhere mid to end April 2009.Week 10: Graduation Day has arrived!
Fetal development in pregnancy week 10:fetus in third month Your astonishingly tiny baby has been hard at work growing as fast as possible—almost doubling in size in the past three weeks! Amazingly, you’re in for a repeat size doubling performance within the next three weeks! Your tiny champion still weighs less than a quarter of an ounce but has already completed the most critical stage of their development. Using Doppler technology, your doctor or gynecologist can let you hear their tiny rapid fetal heartbeats this week (145-165 beats per minute!). Chances for miscarriage are greatly reduced when the heartbeat can be detected, so take a sigh of relief if you’ve been needing one—it hasn’t been an easy ten weeks! What’s more, they’re getting ready to make their first baby poop! Your little one’s major organ systems are developing, including a functioning digestive tract capable of moving food all the way through their bowels. The final shiny gold star on their fetal behavior chart for the week: your little scrapper has already developed defense mechanisms to protect them on reflex!
Saturday morning 27/9 (a day before Daddy's bday), we arrived at the Wakefield Hospital 15 minutes earlier than our 10am appointment. Ushered into the much bigger ultrasound scan room and after struggling to get the zip of my skirt off (yes, almost nothing fits any longer), the nice lady squeezed warmed gel onto my lower tummy and as soon as she lightly pressed the ultrasound thingy on my tummy, immediately you turn up on the screen. Daddy sounded surprised, "baby!". And after a while we saw you waved your little hand. The lady gave a small astonished remark when you did that. You're just so amazing, baby. She measured you as 3.5cm and 174bpm. Daddy saw your little heartbeat beating furiously. I couldn't get my eyes off you. You were just there. Lying there. And in my belly! Now I definitely feel like I'm carrying you around. Last night I dreamt I saw you again. You sure seem very calm and quiet.
So last night after all the excitement, we got home and talked about baby names. Boys and Girls. Made a list and kept it somewhere only we both know. Mama just sms-ed this morning with the name Mohd Imran, if you're a boy. It's still very early. We're open for suggestions. Adik on the other hand wants Zara Aisha or Zetty Zara Aisha, if you're a girl.
After those long walks and excitement of browsing Sydney, my legs and back hurts. But after resting and more resting, feeling much much better now. Doc recommends going for physio. We'll see. Oh at the recent Doc's visit, she went through the blood results. Slightly anemic and low iron but Elevit helps. Mama mentions it runs in the family. She asked Daddy to go for blood test and one more blood test for me. For thalasemia and blood disorders. Nothing to be very worried about.
As for you, our little one. We hope to be seeing you again very soon at the nuchal fold ultrasound.
