With a heavy heart we went to see Dr Hague yesterday. An English man probably in his late 50's or early 60's, soft spoken and explained in detail about his 'research'. After obtaining numerous family history background (plus their health levels) from both sides of us, he finally started a detailed check-up to this preggie lady. I've no idea at the moment he's also a certified ob otherwise I'd bombard him with more questions. Anyway, he checked my PUPPP (which was diagnosed by Dr Chandler on my last check-up) and I heard him saying under his breath "PUPPP? This early..?" but he checked all over my thighs, legs, arms and some that went up towards my bra line. Which I'm glad he did coz it has spread more than last we met Dr Chandler, then decided I needed a much stronger cream than DermAid (which the whole tube's almost finished!). Dr Chandler however did mention she'd prescribe a much stronger cream than DermAid but I haven't seen her since. Note to self: do not trust anything prescribed by pharmacists, well not when you're a high-risk pregnancy anyway.
After explaining my options, checked my urine for protein, blood and sugar, took my blood pressure, check my breathing, measure fundal height (which has increased to 36cm in one week! But he said it should be mostly from the amniotic fluid, judging from baby's measurement and I'm so relieved!) and prescribed me with Celestone for the PUPPP and Metformin.
So far, I do like how careful and detailed Dr Hague is with my progress and checkups than Dr Chandler. But we've only had one appointment with him so it's not fair to pass judgments. Another checkup is scheduled for next week.
So instead of having 1 ob and 2 midwives like any other normal pregnant women assisting their pregnancy, I now have 3 obs, 1 endocrinologist, and 2 midwives. To my loved ones back home in Msia, that should be an assuring note =)
After the appointment we head off to the airport to send Aunty Khairul and family. Then this morning we got the meds and I'll be starting off with Metformin tonight. Hopefully the side-effects wouldn't effect me real bad. Wish me luck!
