Cookie's been growing, I can feel some resistant sitting or trying to get some undies on. Mind you, I'm already a size up in the undergarments department. Sometimes I get these stabbing pains and thought - that's the baby moving! Then again, it might just be the uterus expanding. There are certainly aching pains almost all the time in my abdomen.
I've the strangest feeling 2 nights ago. I was trying to sleep, tossed and turned to find a comfortable position and suddenly I felt like eating my favourite dish, kway teow noodles. It was nearing midnight so I brushed the thought off. Plus, we just had them earlier that day. An hour later I still couldn't sleep and my mouth's watery so much for kway teow. So I went to Daddy whom was watching TV and mentioned it to him. He gave a little snicker and said we'll go get some tomorrow. Honestly, I nearly cried. I want it now. Now seriously, how silly is that? So I crawled back to bed hoping to sleep or at least cry to sleep. 2am went straight to the kitchen, found few packets of noodles and some leftover pad thai sauce. Start cooking. Daddy came and suggests we head to Coles (it opens midnight) and get proper ingredients but by the time, I felt so silly and ridiculous about myself that I don't want to anymore. Damn stupid Oz have no mamak stalls around! I'll just make do with what's in the kitchen. Note, when a preggie lady wants certain food in the middle of the night, no one should laugh or even snicker about it. And I mean no one. She feels ridiculous just wanting it already. The noodles turned out horrible but at least it puts me to bed.
So yesterday we went out for kway teow lunch and get around a little with baby items. Not buying yet but went surveying what's where and how much and which items to be put in the registry hehee. We actually went to ToysRus and gosh it's been so long since the last I was there! Bought few boardgames Mini-Monopoly, Scrabble - the lot. Keeping myself and Daddy busy over those boring, boring nights when there's absolutely nothing to watch or nothing planned. Also, trying to pass time more quickly to the day when Papa, Mama and my brothers arrive! It was not til later when we head to the car that we saw a huge bunch of people in such colorful clothes, some evev with costumes on in the park nearby and we decided to stop and see what's going on. They're getting ready for the bisexual, gay, lesbian and transexual march! We stayed for a while, Daddy pulled me away from those people smoking around and we left few minutes before the march begins. Their events will continue for few days on.
Have I told you I've turned into a cookie monster? Oreos, Chips Ahoy and choc chip cookies are part of my daily diet. I'm ready to seriously put it on the baby shower list right now. As for pregnancy weight gain, I'm still at 4 kgs extra. Looking forward to gaining more this week! Well, I better!!Week 17: Grow Team Grow!!!
Fetal development in pregnancy week 17: Fetus in fourth month Don't be too shocked but... your baby is EVEN bigger than it was last week, not to mention getting cuter, and smarter every day! As you’ve come to expect, there’s no shortage of growth and development this week: your fantastic little bean stalk has added yet another half inch to their overall height-- making them nearly half a foot long! Their little limbs have reached (or are within one week of) their relative proportions, and will continue to grow evenly with the rest of the body after this week. Reactive listening has begun for your baby, even though their ears are not yet structurally complete or fully functional. Meanwhile, different parts of their astonishingly complex brain are developing to process your little one’s hearing and other senses, (you know, sight, smell, taste and touch). Mind boggling factoid of the week: if you’re having going to have a little girl, her ovaries have already produced millions of primordial egg cells, which, within a few weeks, will develop into actual eggs! Phew… just wait till she’s a teenager eh?
And how's mom doing? Even though the second trimester is often characterized as the most enjoyable of the three, you can count on a few ailments (see week 14 for additional tri-2 symptoms). This week, or in the coming weeks, you may be privy to the uncommon joys of “round ligament pain.” These not-so-lovely symptoms can include bellyaches, pain in the lower abdomen and sharp shooting and/or stabbing pains, most often expressed at the end of the day. Your suffering is due to stretched ligaments and muscles that support your ever-growing uterus. This is to be expected and is perfectly normal (especially since your uterus is only getting bigger!). Some doctors advise sleeping on your left side as lying on your back can compress your pelvic veins, decreasing blood return to the lower half of your body. Lying on your left side relieves this pressure thereby allowing normal blood flow. If this doesn’t do the trick, go ahead and consult your health care practitioner, but try not to punch them when they serenely tell you it’s normal to feel stabbing pain during this time. As we all know, violence never solves anything.
I've been feeling more and more lazy and uncomfortable by the week. Daddy's been such a sweetum. He cooks, cleans ,vacuums, dusts, polishes, sweeps and even scrubs! I cannot rave more about how good he is so far throughout my pregnancy. I just hope I haven't just jinxed it by mentioning this. And I certainly hope it continues til little Cookie arrives. Then again, one can only hope =) Sounds too good to be true, eh?
