Dear Baby

In a few weeks time you will be here with your own personality. There will be things you like and you don't like. You'd be responding to the world around you and grow up in your own world of experiences. Mommy and Daddy hope they become a significant influence to you. You may have Daddy's look or Mommy's eyes but you are a person of your own. You may have Daddy's temper or Mommy's crazy mood swings but still. You are a person of your own. We will do our best to raise you without much expectations of our own.

Someday you'll grow up and turn into a teenager. We'd probably be exchanging opinions and have differing thoughts. You may have strong opinions of your own and may not tolerate why we don't understand you. Maybe hurtful words would be uttered though I sincerely hope it is not meant. Frustrations may fill the air around us. Someday you'd be angry at us for not letting you go to wild parties or in your eyes, grounded for absolutely ridiculous reasons. You may turn rebellious and try hard to fit in but everything seems so difficult to understand. There would probably be days when you thought to yourself that you will never turn out like us but guess what baby, we share the same genes. It'll take years but you'll come to realize how not much different we are.

You'd have up and downs, low and highs in your life. Some things just don't go the way you want them to be. Some days you'd feel so high that you'd forget to look down. Please remember we are ordinary, humble people. Or your low points are so low you'd probably forget how much we love you. Always remember you were once the reason people smile.

Dear baby. Eventhough I've carried you around for 7 months now and been counting every little nudge and kicks you make, it shall not be used against you. It does not necessarily mean I understand or know you more than yourself. We have decided to want you and you will always mean the world to us. But baby dearest, give me your rationale and reason. And I promise I will try to understand you.

Some day you'd learn that not all our advises work with you. More than often you'd probably share secrets and listen to your friends than us. However you choose baby, we hope you're not selfish and gave thought to everyone around you, especially those who love you to make the right decisions for yourself. But we will always ensure your decisions are within ours and your means. Sometimes we'd let you fall just to see if you can stand up again. But most times we'll walk by your side.

Though we have not met you, we love you so much somehow doesn't describe the intensity of our thoughts and feelings towards you. And someday if things go wrong or a dark cloud shadows above you, always always remember we will always walk by your side.
